Murray Plumb & Murray announced the selection of four of its attorneys to the 2016 Super Lawyers list – John C. Bannon, Peter L. Murray, Richard L. O’Meara and Michael D. Traister. The Super Lawyers selection process includes peer nominations, independent research by Super Lawyers, and evaluations from a highly credentialed panel of attorneys. This distinguished list recognizes no more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state.

John C. Bannon—Land Use/Zoning (4th year named to Super Lawyers)

John is a Partner and Chair of the Environmental and Land Use Practice Group at Murray Plumb & Murray. Since joining the firm in 1981, he has worked intensively with virtually every type of law governing Maine land use and regulation and is widely recognized for his expertise in all aspects of governmental law. He frequently argues cases before the Maine Law Court and Superior Courts throughout Maine. John is a resident of West Cumberland, Maine.

Peter L. Murray—Estate and Probate (4th year named to Super Lawyers)

Peter is a Founding Partner at Murray Plumb & Murray, where he practiced general law from 1973-1993 with a focus on trial and litigation. From 1993 to 2007, Peter left the firm to serve in several positions at Harvard Law School, as well as do extensive work teaching comparative law in Germany and Europe. He currently serves as of counsel at the firm, where he consults in complex litigation and serves as arbitrator and referee in international arbitrations and domestic dispute resolutions. Peter is a resident of Portland, Maine.

Richard L. O’Meara—Schools and Education (8th year named to Super Lawyers)

Dick is a Partner, Chair of the Education Law Practice Group, and Co-Chair of the Litigation and Trial Practice Group at Murray Plumb & Murray. With the firm since 1987, Dick is widely recognized for his representation of individuals with disabilities and their families in cases arising from special education or anti-discrimination law. Dick’s litigation and appellate practice also focuses on business and commercial disputes, as well as employment law. Dick is a resident of Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

Michael D. Traister – Business Litigation (3rd year named to Super Lawyers)

Michael is a Partner and Co-Chair of the Litigation and Trial Practice Group at Murray Plumb & Murray. Since joining the firm in 1995, Michael has maintained a wide-ranging civil litigation practice in both state and federal court, with particular focus on business, construction, real estate, and probate matters. He also has extensive experience in the land use and zoning areas and has successfully tried significant eminent domain cases to verdict. Michael is a resident of North Yarmouth, Maine.
