John (he/him) joined Murray Plumb & Murray as the firm’s first associate. Attracted by the founding attorneys and what they represented for the future of law, he quickly became a driving force behind the firm. John is renowned for his successful handling of corporate and business matters, as well as issues related to economic regulation. A partner of the firm since 1979, he served as managing director from 1998-2008.

John has successfully handled a wide range of business matters for corporations, partnerships and LLCs, including formation and start-up, stock sales and transfers, mergers, acquisitions, sale of businesses, liquidation, and dissolution. Additionally, he regularly represents telephone, electric, and ferry public utility companies in a wide variety of corporate, operational, financing, and regulatory matters. A former chairman of the Maine Motor Transport Association, John currently serves as an Executive Committee member. He brings a unique expertise in transportation law to the firm and represents a large number of trucking and transportation companies.

An experienced world traveler, John served in the Peace Corps in West Africa for two years, lived in Tokyo for a year, and spent an extended period with his family living in China. He and his family live in Falmouth. He has completed three Ironman races and run marathons on three continents.
