Murray Plumb & Murray is proud to sponsor Rescuing the Rule of Law, a monthly series produced by Maine Lawyers for the Rule of Law that explores current issues affecting the courts, constitutional governance, and public confidence in the legal system.

The most recent episode focused on growing attacks on judicial independence and the importance of maintaining public confidence in the courts. Panelists discussed how increasing political and personal attacks on judges can undermine respect for the judicial system and weaken the balance among the three branches of government.

The panel featured former Chief Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Daniel Wathen, former Associate Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Ellen Gorman, Murray Plumb & Murray attorney Chris Branson, and host Roger Katz. Panelists discussed the role judges play in ensuring fair and impartial hearings, the importance of judicial independence, and the growing security concerns facing judges nationwide.
