Executing estate plans in the time of COVID-19

In this time of social distancing and stay at home orders, complying with the “physical presence” requirements for the notarization and witnessing of wills and other documents poses real challenges. We know this might impact your situation and we’re working to ensure things continue to move as smoothly as possible for all of our clients.

On April 8, Governor Mills issued Executive Order 37 FY 19/20, “An Order Temporarily Modifying Certain In-Person Notarization and Acknowledgement Requirements,” allowing for the remote notarization and witnessing of estate planning and other documents via two-way audio-video communication provided certain safeguards are observed.

The order can be read in its entirety here.

Please get in touch with any questions or if you have an emergency situation.
