Meet our Summer Associate Ryan Morse

Ryan L. Morse joined Murray Plumb & Murray as a Summer Associate, drawn to the firm’s collaborative environment and the opportunity to take on meaningful legal work from day one. He was especially interested in working across a variety of practice areas and learning directly from experienced attorneys without being limited to a strict rotation.

Ryan is currently pursuing his J.D. at the University of Maine School of Law, where he combines academic rigor with hands-on learning. He recently completed an externship focused on SEC regulatory compliance practices for registered investment advisers and will be doing an externship with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maine in the fall. He is also leading a student-designed course focused on researching and comparing state tax systems across the country. Ryan serves as the Head Case Note and Comment Editor for the Maine Law Review and wrote his Comment on the constitutionality of certain state trust income taxation schemes.

Before law school, Ryan earned his B.A. from the University of Southern Maine, where he graduated summa cum laude and received the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Communication Award. He majored in Communication with minors in Regulatory Ethics and Business Administration.

His legal interests include tax practice, particularly SALT, trusts and estates, and corporate tax. He enjoys working with both businesses and families. He is most interested in tax practice due to the challenging nature of statutory interpretation and the constant evolution of the field.

Ryan unwinds by baking and relaxing with his two cats, a Ragdoll and a Maine Coon.
