Murray Plumb & Murray announces Stacey D. Neumann as partner

Portland, ME (April 17, 2017) — Murray Plumb & Murray recently announced that Stacey D. Neumann of Scarborough has become a partner. The mid-sized law firm expanded its suite of practices to include criminal law when it first welcomed Neumann in 2013. In addition to focusing on federal and state criminal law, Neumann practices white-collar defense, civil rights, and the collegiate disciplinary process, including Title IX investigations.

Neumann also maintains an active employment law practice, counseling businesses on human resources and representing individuals who have suffered discriminatory discipline and termination measures, retaliation, harassment, medical leave violations, failures to accommodate, and other employment actions.

“We’re delighted to elevate Stacey to partnership,” said Peter Murray, a founding partner. “During her time with the firm, she has contributing in great measure to its success and has wasted no time becoming on of Maine’s leading criminal defense attorneys in both state and federal court.”

Prior to joining Murray Plumb & Murray, Neumann served two judicial clerkships, as a public defender in Vermont, and as a federal prosecutor here in Maine. She earned her law degree at Cornell University Law School. Throughout her education and career, Neumann has work diligently to serve people who are marginalized with the goal of giving everyone a path forward.

“Stacey gets good results for clients and makes us all better,” said Murray. “For example, it’s because of her that our firm has 100 percent participation in the Campaign for Justice, which provides legal services to the poor, elderly, and immigrant community.”

Neumann currently serves on the Board of Visitors at the Long Creek Youth Correctional Facility and is a member of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Maine Employment Lawyers’ Association, the National Employment Lawyers’ Association, the Edward Gignoux Inn of Court, and the Federal, Maine, American, and Cumberland County Bar Associations.

Maine law firm Murray Plumb & Murray has been helping individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses successfully navigate legal issues since 1973. Attorneys at this mid-sized firm are known as relentless client advocates who go beyond winning to help shape the law they practice and better the community they serve. The firm’s practice areas include: Business & Corporate; Business Reorganization; Construction; Criminal Defense; Education; Employment; Environmental and Land Use; Estate Planning and Probate; Intellectual Property, Media, and Technology; Litigation and Trial; Public Utilities, and Real Estate and Finance.
