Seeking an opportunity to deepen relationship with clients, be more inventive, and better align his values with his work, Peter co-founded Murray Plumb & Murray in 1973. The idea of leading a mid-sized, agile, and transparent firm attracted him – and today he is known as a fiercely loyal member of Murray Plumb & Murray.

Peter’s practice areas focus on advice and counsel to small businesses. He also offers extensive experience in succession planning for small businesses and family held real estate, as well as estate planning and trust administration.

An avid supporter of and participant in the local arts community, Peter devotes extensive time to a variety of non-profit organizations and endeavors. He has served as Chairman of the Maine Arts Commission, a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of State Arts Agencies, and Co-Chairman of the Campaign to Renovate Portland City Hall Auditorium, as well as on numerous boards. Peter is a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Portland Rotary Club, Distinguished Service to the Arts Award from the Ogunquit Performing Arts Center, and the Distinguished Community Service Award from the University of Southern Maine. A passionate musician, Peter is an organist for area churches and singer in ChoralART of Portland.

Peter is a member of Maine State and Cumberland County Bar Associations. He has earned a reputation for excellence and repeatedly earns recognition in the Best Lawyers in America Consumer Guide and New England “Super Lawyers” roster. He has also achieved the highest possible peer rating in Martindale-Hubbell.

Peter is an avid sailor, skier, tennis player, and traveler. He lives in Portland with his wife and has two grown children and three grandchildren.
